The four lettered word.

“For the love of God.”

This is a common phrase in our everyday, new-aged lives. But as my good pal Inigo Montoya would say, “I do not think this means what you think it means.” (For all of you who don’t know who Inigo Montoya is, go home and watch the princess bride)
“For the love of God.”
A couple of frequently asked questions on the love of God..
1. What is “the love of God”?
The love of God is something so high, deep, wide, and vast that our brains cannot comprehend. It is fulfilling. It is enrapturing and overwhelming. It is safety and comfort. It is strong.
“Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.” (‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭13‬:‭4-7‬ NLT)
2.Does it even exist?
“Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God.” (1 John‬ ‭4‬:‭7‬ NLT)
So, yes.
If love comes from God, than I would say the love of God most definitely exists.
3.Why would God love me?
“No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”(‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭39‬ NLT)
“Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God.” (‭Luke‬ ‭12‬:‭6‬ ESV)
God cares enough to not forget about the sparrow.
“Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.” (‭Matthew‬ ‭10‬:‭31‬ ESV)
You are His. He loves you.
4.How do I convince God to love me?
The love of God is not something you can earn. It’s not something you have to “convince” Him to do.
“But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)”
“God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.”(‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭4-5, 8‬ NLT)
5.Does God even know I exist?
“So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” (‭Genesis‬ ‭1‬:‭27‬ NLT)
We exist because of God. We exist because he loves us.

So next time you’re about to say “for
the love of God,” catch yourself. Think about it for a second before you let those words escape your lips.
Remember not to take advantage of a gift so precious and undeserving as the love of God.
For, the love of God is the reason we exist.

Decisions

“Remember that time that you loved me? I do.
I remember every time you said I was beautiful. I remember every time we talked. Oh, the way you talked to me, I couldn’t help but smile. I remember the way you cared about me. I remember the way you said my name. I remember our late night talks. I remember the way you soaked up every minute we were together. You made the best out of our conversations. We had so much fun.  I remember the first time we met. It was love at first sight. Or, at least for me it was. For a while I even thought you were in love with me.

Do you remember? I remember.
But. I also remember when you ignored me. When you blamed things on me that weren’t my fault. When you lied. Although, the funny thing is, I always knew you were lying. But I continued to love you anyways.
It was heartbreaking. BUT, I forgave you. Every single time. You told me you would make up for it, but you didn’t. My heart ached for you. All I wanted was for your love in return. I wanted you to show me off to your friends. But instead you kept me hidden.”——
—— as a reader, you are probably feeling sorry for whoever wrote this. You are wondering who this awful person is that has broken this unknown author’s heart.
It makes your heart ache. How could someone do that? Rude. Just rude.
Truth.
Do you want to know who that person is?
It’s you. It’s you, and me, and everyone who breathes.
You see, our creator loves us. And we all have at some point in time in our lives loved him too. But the thing is, we are just as bad as this unknown heartbreaker. Because we have done all the same things. The emotions and feelings you had after you read that is the way that God feels every time we throw Him out, ditch Him, hide Him, and etc. it’s heart breaking but we mindlessly do it.
It’s time for a change. It’s time for you, me, us to decide. Make the decision to keep living this oppressive life or to start living like we truly love Him.

The Heart Hammer

My heart was broken.

But, it was broken by a very unlikely source. I never suspected this unlikely to break my heart. But they did.
“Life goes on”. Yeah, no. It doesn’t. Or at least not for a very L O N G time. This unlikely haunts my
everywakingmoment.
I can’t get them off my mind. I thought we were perfect for each other. At times I still do. But, I guess “everything happens for a reason”. Ugh. I… I just can’t (I know, *cue white girl* but I am a white girl, so you’re just going to have to deal with my lingo).
My life revolves around this unlikely, but it shouldn’t. I still love them but I hate them at the same time. And they fill up the entirety of my thoughts. They won’t leave. Nothing helps. Music, food, driving. This unlikely is everywhere. I can’t escape it.
This unlikely is myself.
You see, we always blame our broken hearts on other people. However, just like the ever so wise Augustus Waters said, “It’s a metaphor you see. You put thing that does the killing right in between your teeth, but you don’t actually give it the power to kill you.”
No one can break your heart unless you give them the power to do so. And that is our problem. We mindlessly hand people the hammer and say, “hack away at my heart.” But why?
We waste our time, tears, & emotions on a mind game.

All of the “maybe’s” in the world can’t compare to the “definitely” that God has waiting for us.
So, with all that being said..put the heart hammer away, I don’t think you will be needing it.
